Acting resume
When
the time comes to build your resume, keep in mind that you are creating
a calling card. An acting resume should also be accompanied by a
headshot. Do not go to a chain photography studio to have your headshot
taken.
You need to realize that this photo is an investment and be willing
to go to a professional photographer to get it done. This photo
will stand in for you when you are not present, so make sure that
it reflects the image you have in mind.
Be comfortable in your photo shoot. Find a photographer that is
willing to spend a little bit of extra time with you so that you
are relaxed. A tense photo shoot will reflect in your headshot and
will transmit tension to the viewer.
Your resume should be affixed to the back of your headshot. The
purpose of your resume is to get you an audition. It should not
be so bogged down with detail that it continues on for several pages.
On average, resumes get about a thirty second glance. You want
your information to be clear and brief and to give enough information
about you to pique interest.
Do not lie or embellish on your resume. No one will be fooled and
your resume will most likely get tossed into the slush pile.
Be honest on your acting resume and update it often. It is a good
idea to take a few minutes to build an honest resume that is relevant
to the audition you are trying to get.
Celebrate rejection. Remember that the more rejections you get,
the closer you are to getting hired!
Take the time to carefully craft your acting resume!
